In 2002 Jeanne completed her Bachelor of Science in Human Services degree at University of Phoenix: she completed her Master of Science in Counseling, Marriage, Family and Child Therapy degree in 2011.
When she learned about play therapy, and saw the multiple ways a therapist could use the tools of play therapy to help children heal, she became passionate about learning this type of therapy. Jeanne has completed approximately 90 additional hours of training, often traveling to various locations in California.
Training topics included sand tray, attachment theory, puppetry, and art therapy. Play therapy is useful in helping adults work through issues from childhood, as well as, helping couples learn how to work together better. Play therapy is useful in family therapy.
She is a member of the Association for Play Therapy and is working toward being a Registered Play Therapist.
For general therapy, Jeanne uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and the Virginia Satir model of therapy helping clients work toward wholeness and healing. For couples therapy, she uses choice and solution-focused theories to help couples review and heal their relationship. She has experience with using relaxation techniques to help clients diminish anxiety.
Jeanne was a hospice volunteer for ten years and worked as a patient advocate(prior to her getting her MFT degree), with the children's bereavement camp, and with grieving adults. In the past, she worked as a respite worker providing in-home care for special needs children under the supervision of a local children's home.
Jeanne's interests reading, gardening, cooking, outdoor activities, and family. She is passionate about helping others. Jeanne is the mother of five children, step-mother of three, and grandmother of nine. Jeanne is the mother and grandmother of twins. She resides with her husband, two dogs, and a cat.
She has lived in the Reno area since 1980, relocating from California.
